Wish I could blog about things like this. I've been meaning to but I'm using the internet in China and it's more than likely the the secret police is monitoring every key word. I also have Chinese colleagues on facebook and MSN that have very strong feelings about this (all the wrong ones), and I'm afraid all this would just cause me trouble down the road with work and with my visa extensions. Does that make me a bad person? Weak at the very least?

It doesn't make you a bad person - it makes you a cautious one. Exercise of caution in this instance I think is a virtue. There's very little that we can do to change this kind of situation, I suppose. For now what matters is that no matter how China changes, this will not be pushed into the dustbins of history. Some time down the line they will have to look at their past squarely in the face. I hope I live to see that day.
